Internship & Practicum Programs

Pre-doctoral Internship

This intensive training program runs from September to August for 1.0 to 2.5 days per week (up to 17.5 hrs/wk)

Objectives

To provide intensive training in the fundamentals of assessing and treating individuals and couples presenting with a variety of sexual and/or couple difficulties.

Training & Supervision for Mental Health Professionals

Eligibility

Doctoral students in clinical or counselling psychology who have completed advanced clinical work are eligible to apply. Suitable candidates will be called for 1-2 interviews if they make the short list of applicants.

Requirements

Candidates must be available to attend intensive training at the beginning of September (1st day after Labour Day) as well as be available on Tuesdays for supervision.

Clinical Training

Interns opting for the half-time internship will follow an average of 6-8 cases per week. They will also receive individual and group supervision with at least two supervisors. The cases will be chosen to reflect the student’s training goals.

There are 2-3 salaried positions available per year.

Practicum

This program runs from September to August for 1 day (and up to 2.5) per week for 8 hours. For a 1 day per week practicum candidates will be assigned 3-4 cases and participate in one supervision group. The number of cases and supervision group will vary according to the number of days in training. Students must be available to attend intensive training at the beginning of September (1st day after Labour Day).
